A very attractive large watercolour by Scottish artist John Hamilton Glass SSA ARSA (fl.1890-1925) showing a sunset view on the River Ericht at Blairgowrie, Perthshire - a landscape which writer Sir Walter Scott once hailed ‘the fairest portion of the northern kingdom’. Queen Victoria was also one of Perthshire’s most celebrated fans.

Scottish artist John Hamilton Glass SSA ARSA (fl.1890-1925) is known mainly as a watercolourist of landscape, coastal and harbour scenes. His style reflects the progressive and innovative movement of art occurring in Scotland at the end of the 19th century. He painted mostly in Scotland and Holland, living in Musselburgh and often working along the east coast. He exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Hibernian Academy and Glasgow Institute of Fine Art.
