An original mid-20th-century watercolour painting, Muriel Inwood, Thatched Pub on a Rural Road.
A charming watercolour by Muriel Haden Inwood.
This painting is one of a collection of works by the artist that we have for sale. Little is recorded about Muriel Haden Inwood, but it is likely that she was married to the painter Derek Inwood (1925–2012), who lived at Sheringham in Norfolk. There are a number of Sheringham views in our collection. An archival photograph shows Muriel's husband painting.
Muriel Inwood painted local landscapes in Norfolk, as well as in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire, and abroad in the Pyrenees. She also painted still lifes and theatrical ballet subjects. Dates on the paintings in our collection include 1947, 1959 and 1964.
