An original 19th-century graphite drawing, William H. Ward, Figures in a Wooded Landscape.
A finely detailed woodland subject by Birmingham artist William H. Ward (fl.1850–1882). Ward was one of a group of artists influenced by the highly detailed still lifes of William Henry Hunt. He was also inspired by the Pre-Raphaelites, with their love of nature, attention to detail and fine brushwork quality. Ward was elected a member of the Birmingham Society of Artists in 1856 and he also exhibited in London at the Royal Academy, the British Institution and Suffolk Street.
