Frederick Samuel Beaumont was born in Lockwood, Huddersfield. He studied at the Royal Academy Schools (1882–8), winning a silver medal in Life Study, and continued his studies at the Académie Julian in Paris. He further honed his skills through study trips to France, Italy, and Spain to study the Old Masters.
Beaumont worked in pastel, oils and watercolour, producing portraits, figure subjects, and landscapes, and also worked as a mural decorator. He exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, and Royal Scottish Academy.
He married and lived for a time in Wimborne, Dorset, later spending part of World War I in St Ives, Cornwall, where he took a studio at Porthmeor and was involved with the local arts community. In later years he lived in Kensington, London.
