An original 1960s watercolour painting, D. Clarke, Stoke Park Pavilion and Gardens.
An inviting pen and ink drawing, with grisaille watercolour wash, of a study of the grounds and pavilions at Stoke Park, near Stoke Bruerne in Northamptonshire. These pavilions are all that remain of Sir Francis Crane’s seventeenth century Palladian estate built by Inigo Jones, as the main house was destroyed by fire in the late nineteenth century. Verso there is an additional sketch in graphite of a portrait study of the head of an elderly woman, possibly the artist’s mother in connection to another image in this collection (JJ-014).
