> Owen, Will (1869–1957)

Will Owen (1869–1957) was one of the most popular magazine illustrators of his day. A cartoonist, caricaturist and a commercial and poster artist, he is perhaps best known for his iconic images of the Bisto Kids, Bovril, Lux and Lifebuoy.

Owen studied at the Lambeth School of Art and worked in Richmond and London for most of his career. He contributed prolifically to Strand Magazine, Punch, the Bystander and The Sketch, and he produced illustrations for the humorous writer W.W. Jacobs. In 1926 he designed posters for the Underground Group.

He exhibited 100 works ar the Brook Street Gallery and twelve at the Royal Cambrian Academy.
