Cornish artist Marion Grace Hocken (1922–1987) was a founder of the Penwith Society of Arts along with Ben Nicholson and Barbara Hepworth. Born in Zennor, she studied at Redruth School of Art and Brighton School of Art, then went on to Leonard John Fuller's St Ives School of Painting. Hocken was a keen botanist and specialised in floral subjects. Her flower paintings were acclaimed at the Paris Salon and she became a Fellow of the Zoological Society.
