John George Mathieson (1880–1954) was a prolific etcher of landscapes. He lived and worked in the Stirling area exhibiting between 1918 and 1940. He was influenced by the etchings of Sir David Young Cameron (1865–1945).
Mathieson exhibited widely, including at the Royal Scottish Academy, the Wigmore Gallery, the Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and the Royal Academy.
There are a number of works by Mathieson in the Stirling Smith Art Gallery & Museum, Stirling.
