This picture forms part of a collection of works that we have for sale by W.E. Backhouse of Sheffield. The pictures show the artist's appreciation of the local Yorkshire landscape, as well as the Peak District and further afield in Ireland. The watercolours have an attractive looseness, utilising the translucency of the medium to build up layers of subtle wash. The collection also includes a number of appealing portraits.
