An exquisite portrait miniature in graphite of Lord Edward Fitzgerald. Lord Edward FitzGerald (15 October 1763—4 June 1798) was an Irish aristocrat and revolutionary. He led a colourful life, which included leading several expeditions in North America, and being adopted as a member of the Mohawk tribe of Native Americans. Following the French Revolution, Fitzgerald joined with Wolfe Tone in attempting to gain French assistance for an insurrection in Ireland: shot while resisting arrest, he died shortly afterwards.
