An original early 19th-century watercolour painting – Attrib. William Page, Timber Framed House.
A fine drawing attributed to William Page (1794–1872).
This drawing is one of an interesting collection of works by / attributed to William Page that we have for sale. Whilst most of the drawings are brown wash landscapes in Italy or Greece, there are two old house studies within the collection. The house subject, with archaic architectural features and overgrown foliage, provides opportunity for a rustic picturesque study. The house resembles the 17th-century Key House at Castle Donington, Leicestershire.
Similar studies of old houses (some in Suffolk) are amongst known works by Page sold at auction.
In watercolour over graphite, on rough paper.
