Indian Company School Trio of Indian Treecreeper Birds

An original c.1830 watercolour painting, Indian Company School, Trio of Indian Treecreeper Birds.

A superb example of a Indian Company painting and part of an outstanding collection of Indian bird subjects that we have for sale.

As is typical for Company School style, the bird is painted with tremendously vivid opacity and fine detail. The vignette includes tree branches, providing context and grounding the birds within the composition.

The Indian spotted creeper (Salpornis spilonota) camouflages as it forages on the trunks of trees where it picks out insect prey using its curved bill.

On wove paper.
