An original early 20th-century watercolour painting, William Henry Harford, Thatched Cottage Scene.
A delightful watercolour by William Henry Harford (1840–1917) showing an archetypal bucolic English scene, with thatched cottages, walled garden and duck pond. A mother and child pass the time of day with a neighbour, as another hangs her washing on the line.
Harford produced many such idyllic scenes at the beginning of the 20th century. There is an impressive watercolour by Harford of Mont Blanc in The Alpine Club Collection.
